Bahrain’s midday outdoor work ban is delivering positive results, with higher compliance among private sector companies, fewer workplace injuries and no fatalities recorded on Works Ministry’s projects.
The improvements have coincided with expanded awareness campaigns and field inspections by the Free Trade Union Federation of Bahrain in co-operation with government authorities.
The GDN’s sister publication Akhbar Al Khaleej accompanied one of the federation’s “Free Trade Union for Safety in Summer” campaign visits to the Works Ministry’s Waterfront Development Project, where more than 150 workers received practical training on preventing heat stress, avoiding sunstroke and responding to emergencies.
Works Ministry international relations head Jamal Al Hayki told Akhbar Al Khaleej that field visits had doubled from five last year to 10 so far, with 20 planned before the ban ends on August 31.
Federation president Yaqoob Yousif Mohammed said the campaign has conducted more than 1,000 visits and awareness events since 2012, benefiting over 20,000 workers and strengthening workplace safety culture.
