MANAMA: Tamcon Contracting Company, a subsidiary of the Tameer Group, has signed an agreement with Sakhir Solar (an IREC Energy Group Company) for a range of civil works associated with the installation of solar panels at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).
Present at the signing were Tamcon chairman Mohammed Alhammadi, chief executive Abdulla Alabbasi and Sakhir Solar and IREC Energy Group chairman Dr Bassem Abdulla.
The news of the signing comes after the BIC announced earlier this year, and in partnership with Bahrain’s Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA), an international public tender for the development of a major new solar farm, to be located at the circuit.
It is expected that this development will deliver enough energy to power the entire Formula 1 race weekend.
Commenting, Mr Alhammadi said: “This project is well aligned with Tamcon’s commitment to partnering on initiatives that support the kingdom’s drive for sustainable and clean energy as outlined in Vision 2030.”
Also commenting was Dr Abdulla: who said: “This project is particularly exciting for us as it allows us to transfer part of our international and Japanese experiences to make renewable energy technology more visible to people and businesses, and to extend awareness of how innovative solutions contribute to safer, cleaner, and more sustainable environments.”
