The Kuwait Criminal Court and State Security Circuit has sentenced three men to death over a plot to assassinate the Minister of Interior and First Deputy Prime Minister Fahad Al Yousef.
The court also sentenced eight Kuwaiti nationals to five years in prison each for their involvement in the conspiracy.
The three men sentenced to death were identified as Hussain Abdullah Al Matouq, Hassan Abdulhadi Hajieh, and Abdulreza Haidar Dehqani.
Court investigations revealed that the defendants collaborated with Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon to execute hostile acts against Kuwait.
The sentenced individuals reportedly divided operational responsibilities among themselves and planned to use explosives in their attacks.
One of the suspects also attempted to smuggle explosive materials into the country.
