INSPECTORS continue shutting down restaurants and cafes for flouting Covid-19 health protocols.
The Health Ministry announced yesterday that four restaurants were shut down for a week in the Capital and Northern governorates on Christmas Day.
In addition, 22 other restaurants and cafes were identified as breaching the health protocols, and referred to the concerned authority for legal measures.
“Inspectors from the Health Ministry, Interior Ministry and the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry conducted 128 inspections on Saturday that resulted in action against violating restaurants and cafes,” said a Health Ministry statement yesterday.
“In addition, 11 men’s salons and two women’s salons were found in violation of the ministry’s regulations.”
The closures came as ‘intensified’ inspections are being conducted to ensure compliance with guidelines set as part of the ‘Yellow Level’ alert Bahrain entered last week due to rising cases, the ministry added.
The crackdown against violators began across the country in the past week, said the ministry.
The GDN reported on Friday that three restaurants were shut down and were fined a total of BD11,000 for Covid-19 precautionary measures violations, and the following day another restaurant was closed, with 28 other eateries and cafes found in violation.
Inspectors closed three restaurants on December 22 for a week in the Capital, Southern and Northern governorates and registered violations in 20 restaurants and eight men’s salons.
