A mosque has been closed for a week for violating Covid safety measures.
It was one of two found violating the safety protocols, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry said yesterday as Bahrain’s authorities stepped up inspections to ensure compliance with precautionary measures laid out for the safety of citizens and residents.
A total fine of BD24,000 was also slapped against eight people and seven restaurants and cafés for breaching Covid-19 precautionary measures.
The defendants were found guilty of the violations by the Lower Criminal Court yesterday.
“The outlets breached social distancing rules, allowed entry to customers who did not hold a green shield and failed to provide sanitisers for hands and surfaces,” read the court ruling.
Meanwhile, two more restaurants and cafés have been shut down for a week in the Northern Governorate for flouting Covid-19 protocols.
In an inspection campaign on Sunday, 25 other restaurants and cafés were referred to the concerned authority for legal measures.
“Inspectors from the ministries of Health, Interior and Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministries conducted 316 inspections that resulted in action against violating restaurants and cafés,” said a Health Ministry statement yesterday.
Seven men’s salons were also found in violation.
