OFFICIALS have been directed to swiftly document all flood‑related damages and pay compensation to those affected by this week’s rain misery.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, also ordered the development of sustainable drainage solutions in areas where the rainwater has accumulated.
The Crown Prince and Prime Minister was chairing a weekly Cabinet meeting yesterday at Gudaibiya Palace which assessed the impact of the rainfall that sparked flash flooding in several parts of Bahrain, led to traffic chaos, resulted in significant damage to public property and brought misery to resident in low-lying areas.
The Cabinet praised the efforts of the Interior Ministry, Civil Defence, traffic authorities and the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry in managing the fallout.
It also thanked the citizens and residents for their co-operation and sense of national responsibility when faced with this situation.
HRH Prince Salman also discussed the impact of the rainfall during a meeting with Parliament Speaker Fouzia Zainal, MP Mahmoud Al Bahrani and Zainab Al Darazi, who is a member of the municipal council, representing the 12th constituency in the Northern Governorate.
He emphasised that collective effort which transforms challenges into opportunities remains key to the kingdom’s ongoing comprehensive development.
He also highlighted the importance of continued co-operation between the executive and legislative authorities to achieve the development goals.
