A marketing manager has been acquitted of allegedly sending a woman, he had a crush on, videos featuring a famous former adult film star, accusing her of being the actress.
The middle-aged Sudanese man was accused of sending the pornographic recordings to her in 2019, according to court documents. He also faced charges of misusing telecommunication services, insulting the married 28-year-old and indecency.
A fellow national, the woman produced what she claimed to be a screenshot of the text messages he had sent her and told authorities that she was shocked when she discovered pornographic videos of Mia Khalifa on her mobile phone too.
The 40-year-old man was found not guilty of all charges due to a lack of evidence.
“There is no proof that the defendant sent any pornographic videos to his victim,” read the court ruling. “In addition the victim’s phone was not examined by the authorities to show that a crime had taken place.
“The defendant also denied the charges in court. The WhatsApp messages the victim claimed the defendant had sent her was sent from an unknown number and, therefore, cannot be traced to the sender.”
Earlier the court heard that the defendant ‘consistently sent her pornographic videos and accused her of being a porn star’.
“He flooded my phone with pornographic video of Mia Khalifa, who I did not know at the time, but he accused me of being her,” she told judges.
“He said that I was the woman in the videos and I informed the police because he was trying to ruin my reputation. My husband was really angry and he told me to block him.
“He (the defendant) wanted to turn my life into hell because he had a crush on me. I knew that he was mentally unstable and I informed authorities about his abuse.”
The defendant was cleared of the charges as the court considered there was sufficient doubt in the charges.
Defence lawyer Ali Khalifa said that the victim had filed a false complaint against his client due to a personal dispute. “If he really sent her pornographic videos of Mia Khalifa then where are they?” he asked the judges. “Why did the victim not present them as evidence?

“In addition, she made up this story after a personal dispute with the defendant, who she had asked to help her find a job in Bahrain. In addition, there is no resemblance between her and the adult film star.”’
Mia Khalifa had a short career in porn films and gained a huge following. At one point she was receiving death threats from a terrorist group. She eventually left the adult film industry but retained her presence on social media, where she still has a large following.
