A COURT has ordered BD6,000 compensation to be paid to a national sporting hero and handball star after explicit images of his adulterous wife’s hanky-panky sessions with her lover were uncovered.
Lawyer Ibtisam Al Sabagh, representing the distraught 40-year-old Bahraini husband, filed a case on behalf of her client at the High Civil Court.
The plaintiff took action against the mother of his two children after he spotted torrid text messages on her mobile phone, according to court documents. He uncovered further details of the steamy affair before informing the authorities in 2019.
The woman and her boyfriend earlier appeared before the Lower Criminal Court which found them guilty of adultery and allowed for the compensation claim to be filed at the High Civil Court.
The couple had sex several times, including in the lover’s car, before the man admitted to participating in the fling while knowing that she was married.
“The woman and the man will pay BD6,000 to the plaintiff as compensation in connection to having an affair,” read the High Civil Court ruling. “They had been carrying on since 2017 and had sexual intercourse on several occasions.”
The man described to the authorities how he sent the woman photographs and videos of his private parts upon her request. “He said that he could not resist despite knowing that she was married. He had sex with her at his home and in his car,” the ruling added.
“The mother-of-two cheated on her husband for years and her husband only learnt about this after coming across text messages on her mobile phone.”
Ms Al Sabagh described how her client suffered from psychological trauma following the incident.
“He was a famous international handball player and this incident was bad for the family’s reputation,” she told judges. “My client has two children with the woman, a boy and a girl, and is still in shock.
“It was a disaster to find out that his wife and the mother of his children had been cheating on him for years.”
