Mumbai: Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the ICU of Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on Sunday after testing positive for Covid-19.
The 92-year-old is reportedly suffering from pneumonia.
Her niece, Rachna Shah, told the Indian Express, “Lata taai [aunt] has tested positive for Covid-19, and considering her age, doctors advised us to admit her in the ICU because she requires constant care. We cannot take a chance. As a family, we want the best for her and we want to ensure that she gets proper medical care.”
Mangeshkar, nicknamed the ‘Nightingale of India’, has had an active career spanning nearly seven decades in the Indian music industry.
She has played an influential role in changing the face of the Indian music scene and paving the way for female artists.
