Bahrain has strongly condemned Houthi attacks on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The Cabinet affirmed Bahrain’s support for the two countries as they respond to the terror attacks and implement measures to protect their national security.
It welcomed the statement by the United Nations Security Council and the Arab League that condemned the attack on the UAE.
The Foreign Ministry said that the vicious terrorist aggression targeting the lives of innocent people and civil objects contravenes international humanitarian laws.
It reiterated Bahrain’s support for Saudi Arabia and the UAE, backing all measures to maintain their security and stability and ensure the safety of citizens and residents.
It also praised the vigilance and efficiency of the coalition forces to support legitimacy in Yemen and the UAE Air Defence Forces, calling on the international community to take firm measures to stop the Houthi aggression in the region.
The UAE called the attack a “criminal escalation” and said it had the right to respond.
The UAE defence ministry said it had destroyed two ballistic missiles with no casualties.
The Emirati ambassador to Washington, Yousef Al Otaiba, tweeted that close co-operation with the US had helped to deflect the attack.
The US embassy issued a rare advisory for the UAE, urging its citizens to “maintain a high level of security awareness”.
A spokesperson for US Air Forces in the Middle East said US forces had “successfully reacted to multiple inbound threats during an attack near Abu Dhabi”.
The UAE, which has an advanced anti-missile interception system, published a video of what it said was an F-16 warplane destroying a Houthi missile launcher in Yemen.
