His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander, has paid tribute to the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), issuing a royal order promoting 553 BDF officers of different military ranks.
The royal honour came amid celebrations marking the BDF’s 54th anniversary.
His Majesty also issued a royal order conferring the Bahrain Order – Class 1 on nine senior BDF officers and Bahrain Order – Class 2 on three senior BDF officers.
Under a third royal order, 48 BDF officers and 553 servicemen were awarded the Military Service Medal (both classes).
BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa conveyed to the honoured officers congratulations from the King and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister.
Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa also issued an order promoting 4,430 BDF military and civilian servicemen of various ranks and degrees.
He issued another order granting medals of long military services (both classes) to 34 officers and 459 servicemen; and medals of competency (both classes) to 106 officers and 757 servicemen.
Deputy Prime Ministers Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa and Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa were among senior officials and ministers who congratulated His Majesty and HRH Prince Salman.
