BAHRAIN spent around BD50 million on providing treatment for citizens in private facilities in the country and abroad between 2018 and September last year.
Health Minister Faeqa Al Saleh said BD15m was allotted for 885 patients in 2018, BD11.542m for 1,036 citizens in 2019 and BD10.6m was spent on 403 patients in 2020.
“The Health Ministry spent BD11m from January until September last year to provide treatment for 519 people with various illnesses,” Ms Al Saleh said.
She revealed the details in a written response to a question by MP Yousif Al Thawadi.
Ms Al Saleh explained that the cases varied from kidney, heart and lung transplants to complex operations for children and adults, bone marrows for tumours, radiotherapy, Parkinsons equipment installation and eye surgeries.
