MANAMA: A total of 50 startups will advance to the next phase for season 2 of Beban, Bahrain’s first entrepreneurship-themed reality show produced by Hope Ventures.
More than 200 entrepreneurs applied for a place in the kingdom’s version of popular US show ‘Shark Tank’, where startups make a pitch for funding in front of a panel of investors.
Organisers of the show shortlisted 100 applicants to participate in a two-week bootcamp, which has just concluded with 50 entrepreneurs selected for the second phase of the bootcamp, which will take place from July 3 to September 1.
The select 50 will also get to pitch on the second season of Beban for equity investment and unique strategic business development opportunities.
Beban 2 is also introducing an exciting new segment called ‘Beban auditions’.
Much like its namesake, the auditions will feature a certain number of Beban’s entrepreneurs as they pitch their businesses before a panel of judges comprised of various entrepreneurship sector experts to evaluate their businesses and provide them with constructive criticism to develop their businesses for the grand opportunity of pitching on the show.
The auditions will be available for viewing on Beban’s YouTube channel.
Once the entrepreneurs pass the auditions, the second phase of the bootcamp will kick-off.
The first season of Beban was aired in February this year with 12 start-ups, of whom five succeeded in getting investments from venture capitalists.
