Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) infectious and internal diseases consultant Dr Jameela Al Salman called once again for the elderly and high-risk individuals to maintain adherence to precautionary measures put in place for their safety.
She stated that it remained essential for visitors to wear face masks when interacting with the elderly and those with chronic diseases, as well as when visiting health
facilities.
The National Taskforce to Combat Coronavirus (Covid-19) issued the call once again for individuals eligible for the booster shots to strengthen their immunity against the variants of Covid-19 within efforts to protect public health.
“The second booster dose and the one that follows from the vaccination against Covid-19 contributes to raising the immune responses of the body,” added the Health Ministry on its official Twitter account yesterday. “It protects the individual, family and community environment from the virus and its mutations.”
According to the task force, vaccinated individuals, aged 12 and above, have the following booster shot options – Pfizer BioNTech or the same vaccination as their first and second dose.
Meanwhile, eligible individuals, aged 18 and above, can opt to take the Valneva vaccination while recovered individuals can take a second optional booster shot six months after the date of infection and nine months following their first booster shots.
Online reports by Reuters have highlighted that during the last week, Bahrain averaged about 304 doses administered daily.
