BAHRAIN continues to occupy the top position globally in a key Covid-19 index.
The Nikkei Covid-19 Recovery Index measures nations’ response to the coronavirus pandemic across three categories: infection management, vaccine rollouts and social mobility.
As of July 31 this year (2022), Bahrain with a score of 78 was the first among 121 countries mentioned in the index.
The kingdom ranked ahead of Cambodia and Portugal (jointly on 77.5) and Vietnam (76).
Even regionally, Bahrain ranked top followed by the UAE (75.5), Qatar (75), Saudi Arabia (70), Kuwait (65) and Oman (62).
A higher ranking indicates a country/region is closer to recovery with its low numbers of confirmed cases/deaths, better vaccination rates and less stringent social distancing measures.
