A new curricula that include life skills and peaceful coexistence is set to be introduced in the new academic year starting on Wednesday.
Fifteen new curricula along with 28 revamped ones are expected to be launched, according to Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi.
“This year will witness the launch of a number of development projects, and the opening of a number of educational facilities,” he said in a statement yesterday.
“The new curricula will be based on life skills, peaceful coexistence, popular culture, minerals, carpentry and art education, for the preparatory stage, and the Baraem Al Arabiya curriculum for the third grade of primary school.
“We have also developed 28 curricula to reflect the latest developments at the knowledge level.”
He referred to His Majesty King Hamad’s directives to continue delivering educational service, especially distance learning, for all through virtual platforms during the pandemic.
“The ministry was able to provide content, thanks to His Majesty King Hamad’s Future Schools and the Digital Empowerment Projects,” said the minister.
“The digitalised activities, applications and enrichment through the educational portal recorded more than 134 million visits during the pandemic.”
Meanwhile, from the new academic year all age groups in nurseries and kindergartens will come under the umbrella of the ministry.
Dr Al Nuaimi added that the Higher Education Council was following up on the performance of higher educational institutions, reviewing their programmes, encouraging the recruitment and opening of higher education institutions and introducing more new academic programmes.
“The establishment of the European University in Bahrain has been approved, in addition to approving the creation and hosting of a number of academic programmes in a number of private universities.
“We will also continue work with Unesco and think tanks to prepare for the establishment of Isa Al Kabeer University Al Hedaya Al Khalifia, which will include a number of specialisations in renewable energy, logistics and artificial intelligence, in addition to equipping the new building of the Abdullah bin Khalid College of Islamic Studies.”
