Kuwait’s Interior Ministry has introduced a smart scheme allowing motorists to keep impounded vehicles at home under location-tracking supervision.
The new mechanism permits drivers to request that an impounded vehicle be transferred to their residence for an additional fee, subject to specific compliance conditions.
Motorists must pay an initial KD 10 (approx. BD 12) fee for the installation of an approved tracking device, alongside a daily charge of KD 2 (BD 2.4) throughout the impoundment period.
The monitoring device tracks the vehicle's movement to ensure it remains within designated limits. Owners must not tamper with or damage the unit and are required to return it once the impoundment period ends.
