A meeting to celebrate the life of much-loved former resident, respected banker, businessman and Rotarian Robert Ainey will take place at Brazil Restaurant, Adliya on Saturday.
People are invited to come and share their thoughts of Mr Ainey at the venue from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.
“The small get-together is to commemorate and celebrate his life in Bahrain and in the Gulf,” said Rotary Club of Manama past president Khalid Mukhtar.
“This will be an informal event, which we want to be a happy remembrance of his life and contribution to each of us and to Bahrain for the 30-plus years he spent on the island.”
As reported in the GDN, the American passed away on August 11 in the US at the age of 73. He had made Bahrain his home for more than 20 years before returning to Pennsylvania in 2016 to work in the real estate sector.
Mr Ainey had more than 30 years of banking experience in the Gulf and the US, primarily in financial technology. He had also conducted business extensively throughout the GCC, India and North and South Africa.
He is also remembered for being a dedicated Rotarain who mentored others, led several community projects in the kingdom and contributed to efforts of the Rotary Club International to eradicate polio in India and support the prosthetic limb clinic in Sri Lanka.
