Polices followed by Bahrain have helped make women’s empowerment a sustainable institutional approach, supported by an integrated national system led by the establishment of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Shura Council member Hala Ramzy Fayez has said.
Participating in a panel discussion on the transition from commitment to action and the role of women’s leadership in diplomacy and peacebuilding in the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), being held in Arusha, in Tanzania, from October 4 to 9, Fayez said Bahrain’s progress in empowering women is based on the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the continued support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
She highlighted the long-standing national efforts led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty and SCW president, to establish an advanced institutional framework for advancing Bahraini women and strengthening their leadership role across different domains, including diplomatic, parliamentary and international work. Fayez underscored that the kingdom’s approach to supporting and empowering women has resulted in greater participation in decision-making.
