PEOPLE have been warned against scammers posing as employees of Benefit, an electronic financial transactions company.
“Benefit does not communicate with customers through mobile phone numbers,” the e-wallet platform posted on its social media yesterday.
“It is advisable to be cautious of suspicious mobile phone calls claiming to be from Benefit or mimicking the voice messages of the company’s official call exchange.”
The GDN has reported of several victims falling for the trap by sharing their personal details and OTP, a one-time password used to validate digital transactions on devices.
People have been urged to report suspicious cases immediately to the hotline 992.
Cybercrime can also be reported by filling out a form or by contacting the authorities via WhatsApp at 17108108.
