The Education Ministry has denied allegations circulating on social media and parents’ WhatsApp groups that drugs and narcotics are being sold in schools.
"We have conducted a thorough investigation and followed up all cases and have found them baseless.
"We are keen on ensuring a safe educational environment on campus and if any incident happens the concerned authorities get informed immediately to step in."
The ministry added that false news and rumours spread an undesirable atmosphere of panic and worry amongst parents and students.
"It also leads to mistrust on campus to school administrators, teachers and faculty.
"Spreading such news without validation will be met with serious action."
