Bahrain is ready to play any role required in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict and do its part in promoting peace and coexistence, His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and National Security Adviser Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa said last night.
Shaikh Nasser was speaking at the opening of the Manama Dialogue 2022, the theme for which is ‘Rules and Competition in the Middle East’ this year.
“Bahrain is ready to be the meeting ground and a friend to all,” he said.
“Bahrain consistently emphasises the importance of international partnership based on diplomatic dialogue and peaceful means as the starting point to end wars and conflicts.
“And we pursue the path for understanding, respect for sovereignty of states, good neighbourliness, and non-interference in internal affairs.
“And in this context, we call on major world powers to maintain international peace and security, and in particular, to end the Russia-Ukraine war and to begin serious negotiations between the two parties.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain will not hesitate to play any role required in this regard.
“And today, I bring with me His Majesty’s spirit of this message, and would like to echo its sentiment – Bahrain stands ready to do its part to promote peace and coexistence.”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also acknowledged that Bahrain continues to be a “driving force for dialogue between countries and cultures”.
“In difficult times for the world, you have been a voice of wisdom and a voice for engagement,” she added.
