NEW Covid-19 procedures will be implemented in the kingdom next month.
Supreme Council for Health president and National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus head Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa yesterday announced that the new measures will take place starting on Sunday.
All testing and vaccination will be administered at primary heathcare centres, following the closure of the drive-through testing facilities and the vaccination centre in Sitra Mall.
“The National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus added that all Covid-19 triaging and treatment will be centralised at the ‘Sehati’ building at the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC), and the make-shift facility operating at the Bahrain International Hospital will be closed,” said an official statement yesterday.
“The task force will also stop publishing the daily statistics report.”
Dr Shaikh Mohammed stressed that the health sector will continue to monitor global developments related to the virus, including the implementation of epidemiological surveillance tools.
He added that the decision had been made after closely following statistics and trends related to hospitalisation rates for Covid-19 patients, adding that the move was a testament to the country’s relentless efforts in successfully combating the pandemic, making its experience a global model.
