Coinciding with the Bahraini Women’s Day, Al Baraka Islamic Bank (AIB)has won the Best Bank for Women Empowerment Award from The Global Economics.
In a statement, the bank has congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty and Supreme Council for Women president, and all women of Bahrain on the occasion of Bahraini Women’s Day, which is marked today.
Meanwhile, the bank’s chief executive Hamad Al Oqab expressed his pride in winning the award. He said: “Bahraini women have played a pioneering role in the development of the country and their contribution, especially in the field of Islamic banking, is immense. It is a source of pride to see that our efforts have resulted in winning the award.
“I am pleased to announce the establishment of an internal committee for the empowerment of women in the bank, to ensure the continuity of support for Bahraini women by creating a work environment that enables them to successfully pursue their careers in order to achieve Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.”
Fatema AlAlawi, head of retail banking and head of women’s empowerment committee at the bank, said: “We at Al Baraka Islamic Bank believe in the importance of providing equal opportunities for all our staff to advance in their career according to their competencies and without any discrimination. We have a number of female employees in all departments and at all levels and their contribution has become an example for everyone to follow.”
