A heavy downpour caused sparks to fly in Daih and chaos on the roads across the kingdom, as householders and motorists were warned to stay alert during the rainy season.
A woman had be rescued from her home by the Civil Defence yesterday morning when fire erupted in an external electrical transformer box as a result of a short circuit.
Following a severe weather warning issued by the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry, thundery showers with very strong gusts of wind were witnessed across various locations in Bahrain early yesterday.
Emergency services were on full alert and tackled numerous rain-related incidents.
“The Civil Defence urges citizens and residents to be cautious of the rain and follow instructions, including avoiding using wet electrical tools and appliances,” added the Interior Ministry on its official Twitter account. “For emergencies call 999. Stay safe!”
Drivers were also urged to be cautious on the roads and urged to keep a safe distance between vehicles, as more scattered rain showers are predicted this coming weekend.
According to the ministry’s Meteorological Directorate, temperatures are expected to drop as low as 11°C today with winds reaching a speed of 20 knots.
In the past 24 hours, the Northern Municipality has deployed water tankers in Saar, Maqaba, Malkiya, A’ali and Jablat Habshi to suck up water-logged areas.
According to a previous statement by Northern Municipality director general Lamya Al Fadhala, the authority rented and deployed a total of 62 tankers for water suction services to impacted areas.
A video posted by the General Traffic Directorate on its official Instagram account highlighted the efforts of officers overseeing traffic movement while also providing help the drivers of stalled vehicles.
