His Majesty King Hamad issued a Royal Order appointing and promoting 33 judges and members of the Public Prosecution across various levels of the judiciary, in a move reflecting the kingdom’s continued support for the judicial authority, strengthening its efficiency and advancing the development of judicial work.
The details of the order, published in the Official Gazette, include the appointment of Wajeeh Al Shaer as a judge of the Court of Cassation. Mamoun Al Sayed and Hatem Mustafa were also appointed as chief judges of the High Civil Court of Appeal.
The order also includes the appointment of 12 chief judges of the High Civil Court and Category (A) Chief Public Prosecutors.
Those appointed include Khalid Ahmed Abdulla Al Tamimi, Ahmed Kamel Mohammed Al Qurashi, Mohammed Ali Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Hassan Ahmed Hassan Al Muhaiza, Ahmed Jamal Saif Al Qallaf, Ibrahim Isa Ali Al Binjasim and Abdullah Salah Salem Al Thawwadi, along with a number of judges of the High Civil Court.
The Royal Order also appoints 12 deputy judges of the High Civil Court and Category (B) Chief Public Prosecutors, holding the rank of High Court deputy judge.
Among them are Noor Abdulla Shehab Ahmed and Noura Jamal Al Sayed Mohammed Al Mualla, who were appointed as Category (B) Chief Public Prosecutors, in addition to several other judges and public prosecutors.
The appointments also include Judge Mohammed Shaheen Isa Al Hiyi Al Nuaimi as a Category (B) judge of the High Civil Court.
In the Sharia judiciary, seven appointments were made. Shaikh Juma Tawfiq Juma Al Dosari was appointed as a judge of the High Sharia Court of Appeal (Sunni Department). Dr Mohammed Fouad Mohammed Al Kuwari and Dr Yasser Mohammed Ibrahim Siyadi were appointed as Category (A) judges of the High Sharia Court (Sunni Department), while Shaikh Hassan Mohammed Jaafar Al Saeed and Shaikh Mohammed Ali Hussein Al Oraibi were appointed as Category (A) judges of the High Sharia Court (Jaafari Department).
Separately, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, deputy chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and president of the Court of Cassation, issued a decision amending Article 8 of the regulations governing the structure and operations of the General Secretariat of the Supreme Judicial Council.
Under the amendment, the assistant secretary-general and officials of equivalent rank shall be appointed by Royal Order upon nomination by the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and following presentation to the council. Candidates for the post must have at least nine years of relevant professional experience and successfully complete the training and qualification programmes designated for government under-secretaries or assistant under-secretaries, as applicable, to which they are nominated by a decision of the chairman.
