A state-of-the-art medical facility has been unveiled in A’ali, marking a new milestone in Bahrain’s healthcare strides.
On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, inaugurated the King Hamad American Mission Hospital (KHAMH).
HRH Prince Salman highlighted His Majesty’s unwavering support for development projects that enhance the kingdom’s economic competitiveness and benefit citizens and residents. He also emphasised the importance of the healthcare sector and its key role in Bahrain’s overall development.
“The new KHAMH is an extension of the long-standing Bahrain-US partnership,” HRH Prince Salman said, emphasising the American Mission Hospital’s (AMH) 120-year-legacy as one of the first hospitals in the region. The AMH opened its first facility in Bahrain on January 26,1903.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister stressed that investing in sustainable healthcare services continues to be a top priority.
He emphasised the role of strategic partnerships with the private sector, particularly in advancing the kingdom’s development. He noted how these partnerships have expedited the implementation of various priorities within the Economic Recovery Plan, greatly improving the quality of services provided for Bahraini citizens.
To mark the inauguration of KHAMH, HRH Prince Salman unveiled a commemorative plaque and toured various departments, where he was briefed on the medical services provided by the hospital.
The new KHAMH provides a wide-range of healthcare services and contains 125 beds, a ward for women and children, and a ward for various surgical medical specialties. It also includes operating rooms, intensive care units, a dialysis unit consisting of 20 beds, a laboratory and radiology centre with the latest technology and medical devices.
HRH Prince Salman commended the AMH’s efforts in broadening accessibility and advancing medical services available to citizens and residents. This has contributed to improving the efficiency of Bahrain’s healthcare sector, and its wider development goals, he added.
AMH chief executive and medical director Dr George Cheriyan expressed his gratitude and appreciation to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for inaugurating the facility.
He said the KHAMH would provide modern and integrated medical treatment services, in line with the kingdom’s ambitions for the healthcare sector.
“The KHAMH is equipped with the latest laboratories, simulation rooms, medical facilities, a library and lecture hall to further its corporate social responsibility as an educational hospital,” Dr Cheriyan said. “These new state-of-the-art facilities will contribute to cutting-edge research and life-saving medical studies.”
A number of senior government officials and dignitaries from Bahrain and the world also attended the inauguration.
