The Covex Kid of Al Mohamediya Racing claimed the National Bank of Bahrain Cup after winning the eighth race at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club yesterday.
The winner, trained by Hesham Al Haddad and ridden by Neil Callan, raced ahead of Paxos, owned by Al Afoo Racing. Coolagh Forest of MKAR Racing finished third in the 1,800m race for imported horses.
Earlier, the NBB Cup for the winner of the seventh race was clinched by Al Adiyat Racing’s Instinctive Move after finishing ahead of Esnaad Racing’s Fighter Pilot and Wowzers of Al Mohamediya Racing in the race, over 1,200m, for imported horses.
Noble Mark, of Al Mohamediya Racing, won the sixth race of the day, for imported horses. Fourth Time Lucky, of Al Mallah Syndicate, and Super Chief, of Onyx Racing, finished second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, Speed Chance, owned by Husain Habib Aljaboori, emerged winner in the fifth race, for NBB Cup. Jamais Assez, of Al Mallah Syndicate, was second while Radio Caroline, of Al Mohamediya Racing, took the third position in the 1,400m race for imported horses.
The fourth race of the day, for NBB Cup, was claimed by Sabha, owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa. The winner finished ahead of Victorious’ Coiled And Ready and Miblish of Al Nuwayef Racing in the 1,400m contest for local-bred horses.
Khawafy, owned by Feras Sami Hashem Al Meshqab, edged Al Nuwayef Racing’s Zomaan to clinch the NBB Cup in the third race of the day, for local-bred horses. Brilliant Angel of S D Racing finished third.
Gharbiya, owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, claimed victory in the second race and bagged the NBB Cup in the 1,800m contest for local-bred horses. Qamari, of Al Afoo Racing, took the second position while Toulouse Le Plot, of Victorious, was third.
The opening race of the day, for NBB Cup, was won by Obeyan 1867, of Al Wasmiya. Finishing in the second and third places were Al Ma’anagy 1846, of Al Khaldiya, and Al Saqlawy 1807, of Al Riffa.
