I RECENTLY attended an art exhibition by People of Determination, which was held under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad’s adviser for youth and sport Saleh Bin Hindi, and organised by the Micro Art Centre.
I had been invited by centre director Dr Zainab Siwar, who deserves praise and appreciation for her tireless efforts to highlight the hidden talents granted to these people in exchange for what they do not have.
All of these individuals deserve applause and praise since they created wonderful artistic works, with many excelling in drawing, photography, music. There was even a visually challenged lady creating dazzling artwork.
There are people with talent that we have to encourage. Official bodies should play a role, as also civil society institutions, the media, social media, the Press, television and others.
All greetings, respect and appreciation to the families of these special people who bear great responsibility in their psychological and moral support, staying up late nights, among other sacrifices.
We also greet Mr Bin Hindi for putting the opening of the exhibition under his generous patronage.
Thanks also to the Youth Affairs Minister, Parliament Speaker, Muharraq Governor, Northern Governor, the Egyptian ambassador and a number of dignitaries for their presence, which had a great impact on the morale of the participants.
It is worth noting that the centre adopts a number of students of determination and provides them with training workshops in the arts.
The exhibition aims to show the talents of people of determination in the arts, drawing and music, developing and refining them, especially since some of them have a talent more than normal individuals.
I hope, through this platform, that government and private institutions will support this group to be able to find a sustainable source of income and give them the confidence to engage in society to contribute to the renaissance and prosperity of Bahrain.
