The Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) is gearing up for its 15th year of successfully staging the Faber Castell Spectra, described as ‘the largest art competition for students’ in the kingdom.
The charity, under the patronage of the Indian Embassy, will be organising this year’s celebrations at the Indian School – Isa Town premises on Friday, November 24.
“This art carnival serves as a platform for discovering the hidden artistic talents within the younger generation, with the ultimate goal of nurturing a future generation capable of instigating positive social change,” the organising committee said in a statement yesterday.
A ‘Tribute to Bahrain – Indian Heritage Festival’, with regional cultural events from different states of India along with food and game stalls, also takes place at the venue.
Children from across the country participate in the annual competition after their work in selected in the preliminary rounds organised in their respective schools.
In preparation, the ICRF Spectra team held a meeting at the embassy’s consular hall with the school co-ordinators, in the presence of second secretary Sri Ravishankar Shukla.
The winning entries will feature on wall and desk calendars.
ICRF has been offering aid and support to distressed Indian workers for the past two decades, also providing financial assistance to families of low-paid expatriate workers who have sadly passed away in Bahrain.
