His Majesty King Hamad today directed an action plan to preserve the historical and cultural identity of the buildings and cities in Bahrain.
He gave the directives as he gave a royal speech at the opening of the second session of the National Assembly’s sixth legislative term.
"We will work in this context to revive the Isa Grand Palace, which we will adopt as one of the main headquarters of our work, along with the neighbourhoods known in the city of Muharraq, to which we look forward to the return of its people, in honour of that national glory witnessed in the homeland of generosity and dignity."
Also speaking at the event held at the Isa Cultural Centre was National Assembly and Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam.
It will be shortly followed by the Shura Council and Parliament holding their first sessions of the term at the National Assembly Complex in Gudaibiya.
The Shura Council will hold elections for the first and second vice-chairmen.
So far, only current first vice-chairman Jamal Fakhro and second vice-chairwoman Dr Jihad Al Fadhel have forwarded their names to Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh.
Parliament will also hold a session during which all laws issued by the King through royal decrees during recess would be debated.
