HOLISTIC education with tailored academic pathways and unique extracurricular opportunities are at the heart of St Christopher’s School Bahrain’s approach to helping students take their first steps into adulthood.
As the top-ranked private school in the country, it has been building future leaders since it first opened in Bahrain more than 62 years ago. St Christopher’s School is inviting students and parents to learn more about its educational pathways during an upcoming information session taking place at its Senior campus in Isa Town on Wednesday, November 8.
“This information session is mainly to help parents and students explore the different courses and curricula that we offer,” St Christopher’s Senior School Head, Yasmine Dannawy, explained.
“While it is targeted mainly at those who will be going into Sixth Form during the 2024-25 academic year, everyone is welcome to attend, and we regularly have younger students who want to see what options they have.”
Not only does the St Christopher’s programme offer International Baccalaureate (IB), Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) and Advanced Level (A Level) options, it is the only one in Bahrain that allows students to create their own hybrid curriculum by combining the BTEC and A Level courses.
During the upcoming information session, parents and students can explore subjects within each pathway and chart out what they need in order to achieve their academic and professional dreams.
“It is not just our educational pathways that set us apart, but also all the additional tools we can offer in terms of academic and extracurricular support that enable our students to succeed,” added the school’s Sixth Form Head, Madeleine Hursthouse.
“For example, we have a dedicated university counsellor who can help students navigate admission to universities all over the world.
“We also have a variety of extracurricular activities like plays, concerts, school trips, community initiatives and job shadowing that allow students to build a robust set of skills and experiences.”
The results speak for themselves, with 73 per cent of the school’s graduates heading to the UK and Northern Ireland for higher studies at institutions like Oxford, Cambridge and King’s College.
Meanwhile, 22pc of their graduates have ended up at top schools in the US including Stanford, Cornell and the University of California - Berkeley.
According to Ms Dannawy and Ms Hursthouse, this post-secondary success can be attributed to the individual attention that students receive in finding a path that blends their aspirations with their unique talents.
“For those students who have been with us since Nursery, we have a good idea as to where they want to go, career-wise, and with those who are transferring from another school, we evaluate them on an individual basis and understand their academic background and goals,” Ms Dannawy added.
The school is inviting students and parents to learn more about its programme during the Sixth Form Information Evening taking place on Wednesday, November 8 at 6pm at its Isa Town campus. Please visit stchris.online/SixthFormInfoEvening to register for this free event.
