The Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) has launched residency services through the national e-government portal Bahrain.bh, in co-operation with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA).
NPRA Under-Secretary Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa said the new service aims to facilitate processing of residency applications electronically without clients needing to go to the directorates concerned, saving them time and effort.
During a meeting with iGA chief executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, NPRA assistant under-secretary Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and iGA deputy CEO Dr Zakaraya Al Khaja, Shaikh Hisham said that the launch of the new service was part of the Interior Ministry’s efforts to automate services provided to the public, improve performance efficiency, and achieve integration between various government directorates in line with the kingdom’s vision 2030.
He said the service covers Bahrain’s companies and organisations and all residents, noting that it is a turning point in the digital transformation services. “The service allows clients to issue, renew or cancel residency permits and renew the grace period.”
Shaikh Hisham said that 90 per cent of NPRA applications had undergone digital transformation and efforts will continue to introduce more development initiatives to achieve total digital transformation.
