A number of people have been arrested for providing illegal taxi services, according to the Traffic Directorate.
Without giving numbers, it added in a statement yesterday that the violators were reportedly transporting passengers without permission from the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry and/or providing the services in unlicensed vehicles.
Legal measures were underway to refer the suspects to the Public Prosecution.
The directorate has urged such operators to comply with official regulations and seek the necessary authorisation.
