Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa issued Edict (5) of 2024, establishing the High Organising Committee of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) U18 Gymnasiade 2024 – World School Sport Games (ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024), set to be hosted by the kingdom in October.
According to the edict, the committee, which will be directly overseen by Shaikh Khalid, shall be chaired by Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma. GSA chief executive Dr Abdulrahman Askar will be the deputy chairman of the panel.
The members include the following:
- Under-Secretary for policies, strategies and performance at the Education Ministry
- Director-General of School Affairs at the Education Ministry
- Under-Secretary of the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry
- Under-Secretary of the Health Ministry
- CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA)
- Representative of the Prime Minister’s Office.
- Vice-president for Electricity and Water Transmission at the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA)
- Assistant under-secretary for educational services at the Education Ministry
- Assistant under-secretary for financial policies and budget at the Finance and National Economy Ministry
- A representative of the Information Ministry
- A representative of the SCYS
- BOC secretary-general
- Bahrain Paralympic Committee secretary general
- Bahrain Schools and College Athletic Association president
- CEO of the executive committee of ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024
- Ali Eshaqi
- Feras Al Halwachi
The Committee shall be responsible for supervising all the necessary procedures for organising the ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024.
It shall also co-ordinate, through its chairman, with all governmental and non-governmental bodies concerned with organising the tournament inside and outside the kingdom.
The committee shall submit its recommendations directly to Shaikh Khalid for approval to ensure that the tournament is organised perfectly through optimal co-ordination among all entities concerned.
