Developments unfolding in the Gaza Strip show the urgent need for an intensive diplomatic effort between all regional and international parties for peace for all and the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, His Majesty King Hamad said yesterday.
The King welcomed Arab leaders who will arrive in Bahrain to attend the 33rd Arab Summit which will be held on Thursday in Manama under his chairmanship.
This came as he chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

His Majesty stressed the importance of reducing tensions in the Middle East and avoiding military escalation, calling for stronger Arab and international co-operation to reach just, comprehensive and sustainable peaceful solutions to conflicts in the region.
He took pride in Bahrain’s pluralism, civilisational approach, and unity that brings together its diverse and cohesive fabric.
The King added that Bahrain will continue its humanitarian approach and uphold the values of tolerance and rapprochement between peoples, so that it remains an oasis of peace, security, and prosperity.
The session welcomed the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution which was adopted with a majority of 143 states, regarding the eligibility of the State of Palestine to obtain full UN membership, and its recommendation to the Security Council to reconsider this issue positively, while granting it additional rights and privileges.
