Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro today reviewed the final stages of the Bahrain Chamber (BCCI) board elections, describing the vote as a 'key milestone' for the kingdom’s private sector.
Visiting the election centre at Exhibition World Bahrain in Sakhir, Mr Fakhro met candidates as polling for the 31st board term drew to a close.
The minister highlighted the BCCI’s role as a strategic partner to the government in advancing the national economy under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
"The successful organisation and significant participation of the business community reflect a commitment to enhancing Bahrain’s economic competitiveness," Mr Fakhro said.
The election, which saw nearly 38,000 members eligible to vote for 18 board seats, was conducted under judicial and independent supervision.
Mr Fakhro praised the 'smooth organisation' and the professional standards of the supervisory committee.
Final results are expected to be announced later tonight, setting the private sector’s leadership agenda for the next four years.
