FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S under-23 Olympic football team posted a resounding 3-0 victory over the reserve team of Turkish club Antalyaspor in a friendly game played during their summer training camp in Europe.
Abdulaziz Jamal fired in a brace for the Bahrainis. He was on target on either side of the break, finding the net in both the 35th and 56th minutes.
Abdulrahman Hameed supplied the other goal. He scored in between Jamal’s strikes in the 40th minute of play.
The tune-up was the second for the under-23 nationals at their camp. They had previously defeated the reserve team of Türkiye’s Isparta 32 Spor Futbol Kulubu 3-1 in their first friendly encounter.
They play another three games over their remaining days in training. They get back into action tonight against Antalyaspor’s first team. They then play the first team of Bucaspor tomorrow, before wrapping up with a friendly on Tuesday next week against the first team of Isparta. That will also be their last day in Türkiye.
The Bahrainis are holding their camp under the supervision of Moroccan head coach Hicham Dmiai. They are preparing for upcoming competitions, including the GCC Under-23 Football Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Kuwait this October.
The nationals are also set to compete next year in the qualifiers for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026.
