MOTORSPORT – BAHRAIN will host Formula 1 pre-season testing over three days in February next year.
This was announced yesterday by F1 and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), global motorsport’s governing body.
The tests will be the fifth consecutive year that Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) has been selected as the venue for F1 pre-season running. They were first held in Sakhir in 2009 and then again in 2014, and have been hosted by the kingdom each year since 2021.
The event will bring together all 10 F1 teams as they prepare for the 2025 FIA F1 World Championship. It will also be the first opportunity for fans to see the 2025 race cars in action before the season begins.
The F1 pre-season tests are scheduled from February 26 to 28 at ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’ in Sakhir. The new F1 season will start two weeks later with the Australian Grand Prix. The campaign will continue with races in China and Japan, before returning to Bahrain for the fourth round of the 24-race championship, from April 11 to 13.
BIC chief executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa commented: “We are truly honoured to once again be selected as the host venue for pre-season testing. “We extend our thanks to F1, the FIA and all the teams for choosing BIC as they prepare for the new season. “We look forward to welcoming teams and fans to Sakhir in February and witnessing the new cars in action for the first time.”
F1 enthusiasts will have the chance to see the top teams and superstar drivers hard at work developing their cars ahead of the start of the season. Details on ticketing and hospitality for pre-season testing will be announced in due course.
