DHL cruised to an emphatic 124-run victory over Star XI in the Corporate T20 match at G-01 in the 2024-15 KHK League.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, DHL posted a mammoth total of 216/5 in their 20 overs, before dismissing Star XI for just 92 in 16.1 overs.
DHL’s innings was powered by explosive contributions at the top of the order. Usman Anwar anchored the innings with a solid 53 off 42 balls, including two fours and three sixes, maintaining a strike rate of 126.19.
However, it was the explosive Muhammad Maherbaan who stole the show with a blistering 47 off just 16 balls, hammering six boundaries and two sixes at a stunning strike rate of 293.75. Imran Anwar also impressed with a quick-fire 37 from 14 balls, which included two fours and four sixes, making for a strike rate of 264.29. As the innings progressed, DHL’s middle order continued the onslaught. Contributions from Mirza Furqan Beg (25 off 15) and Abid Khan (25 off 21) helped them reach a formidable total, with DHL finishing on 216/5 after their allotted 20 overs.
In response, Star XI had no answer to DHL’s bowling attack. The chase never gathered momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Abdul Basit (three) was dismissed early, and despite a few flashes of resistance from Zohaib Ahmed (18), Star XI were reeling at 49/6 by the 10th over.
Muhammad Kasif Niazi (29) and Asam Shabbir Muhammad (three) were the only other players to make it into double figures, but they were unable to prevent the inevitable collapse.
Star XI’s batting was undone by some incisive bowling, with Muhammad Shahbaz leading the charge for DHL with three wickets for 21 runs from three overs. Maherbaan (2/10) and Sarwar Manzoor (2/4) also impressed, as DHL wrapped up the innings in just 16.1 overs, bundling out Star XI for a paltry 92. On the bowling front, DHL’s Mohammad Shahbaz was the standout performer, with three wickets for 21 runs. He was well supported by Maherbaan, who chipped in with two wickets for just 10 runs.
In contrast, Star XI’s bowlers struggled to contain the rampant DHL batsmen, with Muhammad Rehan and Asam Shabbir Muhammad each taking a wicket, but they were unable to stem the flow of runs.
