Medal winners of the recently held ISF Gymnasiade have been praised as the ‘Champions of Bahrain’.
The high praise came from His Majesty King Hamad who told them at a reception at Sakhir Palace yesterday that their achievements had proudly raised Bahrain’s flag high.
His Majesty congratulated them when he received senior Royal Family members, senior officials, citizens, achievers and medal winners at the reception.
Student athletes came away with 66 medals after five days of competition at ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024, an international schools competition hosted by the kingdom earlier this month.
The King highlighted the significance of such gatherings in reinforcing the spirit of unity. It embodies the values of compassion and brotherhood which have long defined the nation’s heritage, he said.
He also expressed appreciation to his representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for their exceptional leadership and continuous follow-up to ensure the success of international sporting events.
His Majesty praised the efforts of the teams involved in organising the event, led by Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma.
“As ambassadors for our beloved nation, you embodied the values we hold dear. Your warm and gracious hospitality towards guests from around the world left a positive and lasting impression, reflecting the generosity and kindness that characterise the people of Bahrain,” he said.
“Congratulations to all the winners, and we look forward to future occasions where we celebrate even more outstanding achievements.”
The achievers and medal winners had the honour of meeting His Majesty who extended his best wishes for their success in future competitions and tournaments.
Dr Juma expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty for hosting the champions and praised their remarkable individual and team accomplishments.
He expressed pride in His Majesty’s patronage of the ISF Gymnasiade, noting that the King’s guidance and support were pivotal to the event’s success.
Dr Juma also acknowledged the continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in ensuring the event’s success.
He commended Shaikh Nasser for inspiring Bahrain’s youth through his distinguished achievements, alongside those of his children.
Additionally, the minister commended the direct supervision of Shaikh Khalid in organising committees and collaborative efforts across educational and sports entities.
