His Majesty King Hamad received Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) president Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa at Sakhir Palace yesterday.
He expressed appreciation to the Baca president and all its members for their efforts in organising and hosting various national events and programmes, coinciding with Bahrain’s National Day celebrations.
The King Hamad highlighted the success of the third edition of the Muharraq Nights Festival, held in Muharraq along the Unesco World Heritage-listed Pearling Path.
He expressed pride in the historic significance of the city of Muharraq and the contributions of its people.
His Majesty noted the city’s role in Bahrain’s history and the cultural and civilisational richness of its heritage.
The King commended the people of Muharraq for their commitment to preserving the crafts and professions of their ancestors, particularly those related to pearl diving and fishing, for which Bahrain has been renowned since ancient times.
He also commended the notable success of the national events that combined heritage, culture, arts, and entertainment, attracting an impressive turnout of citizens, residents and visitors alike.
