His Majesty King Hamad has commended the global presence and competitiveness of Bapco Energies’ group of companies, highlighting their capability to attract investors and establish impactful partnerships that contribute significantly to the energy sector’s development.
He also praised the companies’ commitment to fostering young Bahraini talent across both genders and underscored confidence in Bahraini professionals, who have consistently demonstrated outstanding competence in adapting to the evolving demands of the sector.
His Majesty made the remarks as he yesterday received at Sakhir Palace – in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – his representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Bapco Energies board of directors chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The meeting was also attended by CEOs of companies operating under the Bapco Energies group, which is leading Bahrain’s energy transition.
The King commended the leading role of Shaikh Nasser in advancing Bahrain’s energy sector, and the achievements made in the ongoing energy transition.
He highlighted the achievements of the energy sector over the past year, which was marked by significant progress in operational efficiency, sustainability and safety.
The King noted that 2023 was a year of remarkable success for this strategic sector, in line with the objectives of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
He highlighted the launch of the major strategic project undertaken by Bapco Refining to modernise its refinery, which will enable the company to increase its production capacity and enhance its competitiveness in the oil refining industry.
Shaikh Nasser presented a detailed report outlining key achievements of the Bapco Energies group of companies over the past year.
He highlighted a series of major accomplishments and strategic partnerships, reviewing the progress of each company in the group.
Shaikh Nasser highlighted the following accomplishments:
l Bapco Refining’s historic project to modernise its refinery, which was inaugurated and commenced operations at the end of 2024.
l The success of the new strategy adopted by the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY), which has enhanced its operations, strengthened global partnerships, and led to the signing of several key agreements.
l Notable progress made by the companies in supporting Bahraini professionals, training programmes and empowering women in leadership and decision-making roles.
l Record-breaking achievements and global awards received in recognition of compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of His Majesty and the government, under the leadership of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in advancing Bapco Energies and its subsidiaries.
Shaikh Nasser commended the government’s efforts in addressing challenges and supporting the growth of companies, emphasising that the energy sector is poised for further advancements this year in line with Bahrain’s economic vision, reinforcing its sustainability as a cornerstone of the national economy.
