A total of 1,000 freshly cooked meals were distributed to underprivileged families and individuals in Bahrain yesterday by InterContinental Regency Bahrain in collaboration with Conserving Bounties Society.
It was part of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ global Giving for Good initiative.
Led by the hotel’s culinary team and chefs, the meals were carefully prepared and then packed in food-safe containers by volunteers.
Society board members were also present at the event, to underscore the importance of the collaboration in fostering a culture of compassion, sustainability and solidarity.
“At InterContinental Regency Bahrain, we believe in making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve,” said general manager Philipp Economou.
“Our collaboration with Conserving Bounties reflects our commitment to addressing food insecurity while promoting responsible consumption as part of our global sustainable initiative.”
Since it was set up in 2014, the non-profit Conserving Bounties Society has been saving surplus edible food on a daily basis, repacking it with care, and redistributing it to beneficiary families.
“At Conserving Bounties, reducing food waste is a daily mission. Partnering with InterContinental Regency Bahrain allowed us to extend that impact and bring hope to even more beneficiary families,” said chief executive Thawra Al Dhaen.
