GOLF – THE 26th annual American Mission Hospital (AMH) Island Classic Charity Golf Tournament commences at noon today, inaugurating three days filled with thrill, companionship and spirited competition.
Under the esteemed patronage of His Majesty King Hamad, this signature event will unfold at His Majesty’s private golf course in Saffriya, offering a unique opportunity for golf enthusiasts to showcase their skills on this renowned course.
AMH corporate CEO/chief medical officer Dr George Cheriyan expressed his gratitude, stating: “First and Foremost, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to His Majesty, for graciously allowing us once again to host the tournament. Golfers all around eagerly anticipate the opportunity to test their skills on this challenging course every year.”
The tournament follows a Florida scramble format, where all players take their shot from the position identified as the best ball. Each member team comprising four golfers has an equal chance to impact the team’s collective score and overall performance.
Teams will be divided into two flights – championship and premier flight and at the end of the three days of play, three winners from each category will be awarded. Several side contests including closest to the pin, longest putt and the most accurate drive will also be conducted side by side.
GDN Media are participating in the event with the team of Stanley Szecowka, Ian Dench, Olaf Brock and Philip Anderson.
As sponsors continue to show unwavering support for the event, funds raised will be directed towards the noble cause of community outreach programmes, furthering AMH’s mission of promoting health education and providing essential medical services to the community.
