A housing project targeting female beneficiaries was inaugurated yesterday.
The inauguration of the ‘Masaken 2’ project in East Hidd City took place under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) president.
SCW member Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa was present.
The opening ceremony was attended by Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi, SCW secretary general Lulwa Al Awadhi, several SCW members and officials.
Shaikha Hessa noted that these efforts reflect the directives of His Majesty and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to ensure women’s access to housing services.
She delivered a speech on behalf of the SCW, conveying HRH Princess Sabeeka’s appreciation to the Housing Ministry for its efforts in advancing projects that enhance the security and stability of Bahraini families.
Shaikha Hessa noted the initiative of the council and its role in the issuance of Decision (12) of 2004 regarding the right of Bahraini women to benefit from housing services, which granted custodial and financially responsible women the right to apply for housing services.
She emphasised that the inauguration of the Masaken (2) project in East Hidd, dedicated to enabling Bahraini women to benefit from housing services, comes after the successful experience of the first Masaken project in Al Lawzi, Hamad Town, which was inaugurated in 2016.
Masaken project is one of the qualitative initiatives aimed at supporting Bahraini women and enhancing their family and living stability, within the framework of the strong partnership between the ministry and the SCW in implementing national plans for the advancement of Bahraini women, she said.
Ms Al Romaihi expressed the ministry’s pride in the continuous support of HRH Princess Sabeeka for programmes that support and empower Bahraini women.
She noted that the Masaken 2 project represents a continuation of initiatives aimed at providing modern and suitable housing options for female citizens.
Ms Al Rumaihi said that all works related to the project in East Hidd City have been fully completed, including construction, facilities, associated services and infrastructure.
She underscored that the project is ready to move to the allocation phase according to the planned schedule.
She noted that the ministry has provided Bahraini women with more than 6,555 housing and financing services since 2011, including home ownership services, housing financing and the rental allowance programme.
During the inauguration, Shaikha Hessa, accompanied by the minister and the SCW secretary general, conducted a field tour of the project facilities.
The engineering team provided a detailed explanation of the design of the residential apartments, architectural components and technical services accompanying the building, including security systems, multipurpose halls and facilities prepared for persons with special needs.
The project features a modern residential building consisting of four floors, housing 49 apartments with well-studied layouts suitable for the needs of Bahraini women, in addition to a ground floor designated for services and facilities.
