A senior surgeon in Egypt has died 15 days after collapsing inside an operating room while performing a critical procedure on a patient in Kafr El Sheikh governorate.
Dr Adel Abdelaziz Shaheen, head of the General Surgery Department at Al Obour Hospital, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during the operation.
Medical staff attended to him immediately and transferred him to intensive care, while his assistant took over the procedure and completed it successfully.
Dr Shaheen received intensive treatment for 15 days, but died on Friday after his condition deteriorated.
