TENNIS – THE Bahrain Ministry of Interior Tennis Challenger has been honoured for the second straight year by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for its exceptional organisation.
The kingdom’s event, held this year in February and featuring $200,000 in total prize money, has been named the 2025 ATP Challenger Tournament of the Year for the Challenger 125 category.
The event was won by Marton Fuscovics from Hungary in its fourth edition.
Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) president Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa congratulated Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa on the occasion of winning the prestigious award.
Shaikh Abdulaziz praised the significant support and continuous attention given by the Interior Minister to tennis, highlighting the provision of all the tournament’s needs as making a profound impact on the event’s success and distinguished presentation, which has thus garnered praise from the ATP.
Tournament director Mohammed Al Sayed was quoted as saying by the ATP: “We are proud and honoured to receive the 2025 ATP Challenger Award.
“We see this award as an important milestone in our journey of developing the sport of tennis in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
“A large organising team led by a true visionary of the Interior Minister spared no efforts in playing host to world-class athletes and officials from 2021 to 2025.
