A drill designed to rigorously test the effectiveness of the airport’s emergency evacuation plans and ensure the highest level of readiness among all emergency response teams has been successfully completed.
The Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of the Bahrain International Airport (BIA), announced yesterday the completion of a partial evacuation exercise.
The simulation provided invaluable insights into operational procedures, communication protocols and co-ordination mechanisms during a mock emergency scenario.
The exercise exemplified exceptional collaboration, featuring joint efforts among personnel from BAC, Gulf Air Group, Airport Police, the Executive Office of National Disaster Committee, Bahrain Customs Affairs, Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs and Bahrain Airport Services.
“The safety of our passengers, personnel and stakeholders remains our utmost priority,” said BAC Airport Emergency Services, Health, Safety and Environment vice president Mohamed Alsayed.
“Conducting such comprehensive exercises is fundamental to our commitment to operational excellence and emergency preparedness.
“This drill not only tested our plans under pressure but also strengthened the invaluable partnerships that are crucial for ensuring a swift and effective response to any potential incident at Bahrain International Airport.”
The GDN reported last month that BIA recorded 882,343 passengers in November 2025, reflecting continued growth in travel to and from the kingdom during the festive season.
The total included 437,057 departing passengers, 442,717 arrivals and 2,569 transit passengers.
Aircraft movements reached 8,707 flights, comprising 4,367 departures and 4,340 arrivals, in addition to 47,753 overflights.
The figures point to rising regional travel demand, supported by network expansion, improved operational efficiency and stronger demand for short- and medium-haul routes, enhancing the airport’s regional and international competitiveness.
