The Arab Federation for Artificial Intelligence and Programming (AFAIP) has been designated as the sole official regulatory reference for the sector under the Arab League’s Council of Arab Economic Unity.
AFAIP president Dr Badr Al Hajri confirmed the federation will serve as a unified platform for GCC and Arab League member states to coordinate legislative frameworks and sustainable technological development.
As the accredited regional authority, the Qatar-based federation is now responsible for drafting AI policies, accrediting educational curricula, and certifying training programs across the Arab world.
“The federation acts as a comprehensive hub for Arab expertise, fostering strategic partnerships to accelerate digital transformation,” Dr Al Hajri said.
Key objectives include unifying technical standards, nurturing regional talent, and building collaborative networks between universities and research centres.
Dr Al Hajri announced that the next phase will see the launch of advanced training initiatives and joint research projects aimed at boosting the region’s competitiveness in the global digital economy.
The move is expected to streamline AI regulation and ensure the effective deployment of software solutions across member states.
